Playing Around the House

I've been trying to think of activities to do around the house since it has been too cold to be outside. Today, however, it was around 60 degrees so we actually got to be outdoors! That was a treat. I feel like Caroline and I both get cabin fever somedays. Caroline's favorite new indoor activity is playing with play-doh! Surprisingly, she hasn't tried to eat it. She was actually entertained for a solid hour, just sitting at the kitchen table playing with play-doh. It was fun for me too- very therapeutic! :) Who needs one of those squishy stress balls when you can just use play-doh! Anyway, it is hard to keep her attention on something for longer than 15 minutes, so I am glad to find an activity that she likes. I got a video clip of her playing with the play-doh too, but for some reason I am having difficulty getting it to load. I will try to load it again later.

This is the age when playing dress up becomes fun. I don't have any pictures of Caroline playing dress up, but did get a picture of her with my shoes on. Anytime she wants to go somewhere, she brings my shoes to me. Here she is trying to walk "in my shoes". :) She doesn't understand that heels just don't work for her!

Caroline is also becoming particular about her hairstyle. She has always wanted a bow in her hair and we pick out a different one every day. I started pulling her hair back in a ponytail when she eats because inevitably she gets food in her hair. Ever since I started doing that, she now requests a ponytail (po-po) first thing in the morning. She starts saying, "Po-po!" if I try to take it down. One night when she was brushing her teeth, I captured a picture of her favorite hairstyle. Of course, her favorite friend Louie was there too!

Can You Feel the Love?

Meet Louie, Caroline's favorite stuffed animal! Louie is a Valentine bear that Grandy and Poppy gave her last year, and ever since she got him she has been attached! She takes him to bed with her and carries him around the house all day long. Caroline insists that Louie have a bow in his hair just like she does (hmm, should I change his name to Lou Lou and start calling him she?). She also likes to pretend to change his diaper and puts him in the high chair to be fed too! Lately, she asks me for a blanket for Louie and tells me he is cold! She has so many stuffed animals, but Louie by far is her fave. I tried to get her attached to a little blanket or smaller stuffed animal, but she wouldn't have it. She remains loyal to Louie! We are enjoying watching her imagination at work!

Louie isn't the only one who gets hugs and kisses from Caroline. She loves to hug on everyone! Yesterday we went over to visit some friends, Mindi, Nick, and Samuel. Caroline loved playing with Samuel. After they had played for a while, she started wanting to give out hugs to everyone. She had Samuel in a head lock at one point! Poor little guy couldn't get away! They were so cute together!

Fun with Friends

Today we went to Carmel Road Park with "Aunt Chrissie" and Ali. As we were walking up to the park, Ali and Caroline were holding hands. I couldn't resist- I had to get a picture! It was a chilly day, so we didn't stay long. The girls favorite activity, other than sliding, was running in the field beside the park. I thought Caroline would be worn out from all the running around, but that was not the case. We had trouble getting her to go to sleep tonight! Caroline has several other little girlfriends (and boyfriends) :) she likes to play with. It is hard to get pictures of them these days though because they are constantly in motion!

There is No Time Like the Present!

Happy New Year! The motto I'm claiming is " There is no time like the present!"  There are so many things that I would like to do and end up telling myself I will do it later. Then, somehow it never gets done! Well, since a lot of our friends have blogs and I enjoy reading the updates, I decided there is no time like the present to create one of our own. So, here we are! Hopefully I will be diligent about posting and adding recent photos and videos. What a great way to keep friends and family informed about what is happening in our lives! Of course, most of the blog will be about Caroline since she is the one who is growing and changing almost daily. But that's OK, right? :) Before I start blogging about the new year, I am going to  back track a little bit to get started...
